Our areas of legal representation in Columbia County, Greene County, Ulster County, Dutchess County, and beyond include a wide range of matrimonal or divorce matters, family law, custody and visitation, spousal support, child support, guardianships, family offense or neglect petitions, alternative dispute resolution (mediation and collaborative law), trials, civil litigation, appeals, contracts, criminal defense, felonies, misdemeanors, violations, traffic tickets, administrative proceedings, real estate, and more.
At The Columbia County Law Offices of Heidi T. Cochrane, we do not believe there is a one-size fits all answer to representing our clients. Depending on the individual client and circumstance, our legal services are custom-tailored to bring the law to your corner as effectively as possible.
Some disputes may be resolved through mediation or other form of alternative dispute resolution. In these situations, both parties may benefit from a process that both de-escalates the matter and results in a cost-effective solution that enables all involved to conduct their negotiations with dignity and be invested in the success of the outcome. Often, this results in a longer and more thorough commitment of both parties to the agreement they have reached.
In the most contentious legal matters, more complicated strategies may become necessary, and the goals of a client may only be achieved by engaging in complex litigation. When this occurs, our clients are assured of vigorous representation in defense of their legal rights and experienced advocacy throughout all phases of litigation.
Whether we are able to address our clients' needs through alternative dispute resolution or are engaged in zealous trial-level representation, we are dedicated to obtaining a clear understanding our clients' goals, empowering them to make informed choices, and obtaining the best possible outcome on their behalf
