Heidi T. Cochrane began her solo career in 2007. She has practiced in New York state and federal courts and has served as both Columbia County and Greene County Assistant County Attorney. Her work has included matrimonial matters, family court, civil litigation, criminal defense, and real estate. She is trained in mediation and collaborative law. She is also the founder of Remote Family Mediation, an independent neutral mediation service for those who are best served exclusively by the mediation process, rather than requiring legal representation.
She is admitted in New York and Massachusetts and in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York. She earned her J.D. from Albany Law School of Union University, a doctorate from SUNY Albany, a master’s degree in Secondary Education from The College of Saint Rose, and a bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Smith College. Her writing has appeared in scholarly legal journals as well as creative writing publications.
