As children grow, and most notably as they enter their pre-teen or teenage years, their relationship with their parents evolve. While some of the changes are welcomed, others are the source of family conflict, as new responsibilities, choices, and risks are navigated. Through mediation, parents and their children are afforded a safe place for discussing difficult issues, such as schoolwork, curfews, attendance, extra-curricular participation, drug and alcohol usage, sexual activity, friendships, bullying, respect for self and others, and boundaries. By working cooperatively with the assistance of a trained mediator, parents and their kids can develop clear, meaningful rules that they are personally invested in upholding. Conflict resolution between parents and children is offered either situationally and to resolve specific matters, or globally, as a means to anticipate and reduce future conflict.
